Iosif (Krjukov), Valaam

Iosif Krjukov is the prior of the Monastery of Valaam. He was born in Saint Petersbourg in 1975 and he studied economy at the University Voznesenskij and at the University of the North Carolina. He studied theology in the Saint Tichon Seminary of the Orthodox Church of America, concluding his PhD in 2001. He has been the secretary of the bishop Merkurij of Zarajsk, responsible of the parishes of the Patriarchate of Moscow in the U.S.A.; in 2010 he was proclaimed deacon of the Saint Nicola Cathedral of New York and the same year he became a monk of the monastery of Valaam.
