In the luminous and solemn night of the Transfiguration of the Lord our brother NIMAL KURUKULASURIYA and our sisters FRANCESCA ADAMI and ELISA ZAMBONI, at the end of their road of formation in the novitiate and further probation that lasted seven years, made their definitive monastic profession, presenting their life to the Lord as Christian monastics at the service of the Christ in the Church and among men.
Before the beginning of the celebration messages were read from the Patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew I, and from our bishop, Gabriele Mana, who visited us for the celebration of first vespers.
At the vigil liturgy participated monks and nuns of other communities, our friends, among them a monk of the Yasù Afadi monastery in Iraq, a monk of Sti?na in Slovenia, the sisters of Cumiana, the abbess of the monastery of Viboldone, Maria Ignazia Angelini, the abbot of the monastery of Seregno, Luigi Gioia, the abbot of Pra’d Mill, Cesare Falletti, with two brothers of his community, a brother from the Benedictine monastery of Dumenza, and numerous friends and guests.
In one passage of his homily the prior, Enzo Bianchi, reminded the newly professed and the entire community that “there is no love without sacrifice, there is no love without the acceptance of suffering… Suffering is a necessary passage for every way of faithful love, it cannot be suppressed on the way of humanization or on the way of following Christ…”
The community gives thanks to the Lord for this great gift and also thanks all those who have accompanied us and continue to do so by remembering us in friendship and in prayer.
